Brad + Mel = SUPER SEXILICIOUS!

Okay so the blog title may have been slightly misleading... but hey we are pretty close to sexilicious... right?! Here is a shot Mrs. Corinna Hoffman snagged of the two of us while we were shooting her and her husband Bobby last week. (More to come from their shoot very soon and its a hot one I promise.) Corinna wanted to play with our pocket wizards at the end of her shoot so we stepped up and played super models for her. Watch out America's Next Top Model... we're next in line for the title!

I swear our gangsta side can't stay put when a camera is pointed in our direction. Peace up... A-Town down! (and in Brad's case, greater than and lesser than symbols)

    On Vacation

Hi everyone, Brad and I will be out of the office until Thursday August 28th. Brad's family from Tennessee came to visit so we all headed down to Daytona Beach for a few days to enjoy some sun and relaxation. We are so thankful Fay has come and gone just in time for our vacation. We will have limited access to email and phone but if you need to reach us you can email us at info@ladolcevitastudio.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We hope everyone has a wonderful week!

    Storm Watchers

I hope all my fellow Floridians are staying dry during these last few days of wet drizzle produced by super slow moving Tropical Storm Fay. She has been moving at 2mph yesterday and today and Brad likes to say he could out walk her. So far it seems the worst of her winds and water damage have stayed to the south of us. The last few days have been pretty uneventful so far. Lots of rain, a wind gust that nearly knocked me over while I was taking Lucy potty and a few small trees down. Right now there are about 70,000 people in the Jacksonville area without power and thankfully we are not one of them at the moment. I have been busy catching up on laundry, cleaning house and preparing for Brad's family to come visit on Saturday. We have been praying that this bad weather will be long gone by Sunday when we all head down to Daytona for some much needed time at the beach. If you thought Brad was crazy about this weather, you should see his mom. She has checked in with us profusely to be sure we are still here and the resort we are staying at in Daytona hasn't washed away into the sea. Everything is A-OK mom... we're lucky to not be paddling around in canoes like some people in Melbourne have.

Here are some fun photos of a normal Florida afternoon thunderstorm that rolled into town last week. The clouds in these pictures are far more ominous than the ones Fay brought with her. (I took these while driving so please forgive the crazy angles... I just though the clouds hovering over downtown Jacksonville were far too dramatic not to take a picture of.)

Oh and I just for the heck of it... I bought Lucy a new harness last week... FINALLY! See how badly she needed one. These are the exact same harness... one is her old one and one is brand new. Hard to believe the one on the left once looked as squeaky clean and bright as the one on the right. I actually bought her 2 new harnesses, one with cute little white doggie bones on it as well as a sparkly new collar. Poor girl needed some new accessories. ;)

I hope everyone is staying safe and that power is restored to everyone soon. I know our friends Cory & Bobby have been without power for most of the day today. Keep sending out the good weather prayers and vibes... we want sunshine for our mini vacation with the family. :)

    Baby Andrew's Arrival

Early Monday morning on August 4th I got a call from Maranda informing that her water had broken and she was officially in labor. Immediately, I collected all my camera gear and headed to the hospital. From early on in her pregnancy Maranda decided she wanted me not only to document her pregnancy with maternity photos but to shoot the live birth of her first baby as well. I was so honored to be there and experience such a miraculous event. Maranda gave birth 100% natural; no pain killers, no epidural, nothing. Just good old fashioned pushing. She was so calm and collected through the entire labor. All the movies you see where women are screaming and begging for drugs was completely false in Maranda's case. After a whole night of intense labor she finally gave birth to a healthy 8lb 7oz baby boy. Baby Andrew was 21 inches long and came out with a full head of black hair. I swear I have never seen a baby with so much hair before. He is the spitting image of his daddy. Below is a slideshow of the event (we will call it the Cliffs Notes version). Any of the more graphic shots have been removed so I promise there is nothing to fear. Maranda, James and Baby AJ... I love you all and thank you so much for allowing me to experience this beautiful event with you.

    Hurricane Fay?

So scattered somewhere between Michael Phelps winning gold and Michael Phelps setting new world records there has been a tropical storm brewing out in the Caribbean Sea. Brad found out about this a few days ago and overnight morphed into a full fledged hurricanologist. Being a Tennessee boy he has never experienced the thrill of anticipating a big storm here in Florida before. Since finding out about Tropical Storm Fay he has been tracking her every 15 minutes it seems just to see where the projected path is and just how strong they think the winds could be when they reach our area. He got extra excited when he heard that she could reach category 1 strength winds by landfall. He has even taken to leaving me voicemails to update me on the storm's progress. Thanks babe, glad to know you're on top of things. Apparently the real meteorologists are anticipating Miss Fay's arrival in the Jacksonville area sometime on Wednesday... this is the storm's current projections:

...and here is where I'm pretty sure Brad will be until Friday afternoon when Fay checks out of Casa de Florida:

Good thinking babe with the bike helmet... we wouldn't want anything happening to that cute little noggin of yours.

You know you're a Floridian if you hear there is a hurricane coming and its anything less than a category 3 you really don't alter your plans. My FL peeps understand. Brad will be busy buying out all of the bottled water and canned goods at Publix this week, so if you get a hankering for some canned green beans or tuna, stop on by, I'm sure we will have plenty to go around.

    Girls Night OUT!

Sunday night I had the opportunity to go out to dinner and enjoy the company of a fantastic group of local female photographers here in Jacksonville. We wined and dined on the tasty Middle Eastern cuisine from The Casbah restaurant in Avondale. All topped off with hours of getting to know each other girl talk. It was so much fun and I do hope nights like this will become a regular occurrence here in Jacksonville. Thanks ladies for joining me; I had a blast and I will get to work planning our next shin dig! :)

Mike & Brooke's Steamy San Marco Session

Last week Brad and I shot this smokin' hot session with Mike and Brooke around our home and down in San Marco. They were completely open to ideas so we decided why not do a night shoot. The idea seemed to really suit these two and reflect their dramatic personalities. I love how all the photos turned out and reflect just how passionate Mike and Brooke are about each other. Here are some of our favorites from the session.

PS: Mike is an Engineer, and Brooke is an Environmental Scientist... living proof that smart is SEXY!

The winds of change are blowing!

Brad and I finally got our new super computer on Wednesday! We have been in desperate need of a real work horse to speed things up around here... and this week we finally got it! Here are some shots of our new baby and the disarray that our house was in last night as we integrated it into our home. Who knew buying a new computer meant totally reorganizing your office?!

    Photobucket

Lucy was not too happy that the new computer was getting more attention than she was. She kept putting her toys in front of the boxes as if to entice us to play with her.

Finally a proper monitor... 24 inches of goodness. I have been doing everything on our old 15 inch monitor and laptop screen thus far. This thing is like a gift from God himself!

    Photobucket

I'm still working on fixing our office up since I totally reshaped it last night as we brought Bertha (thats the new computer's name) in. The computers will all be networked into one monster working machine tonight and we will be knocking out the gorgeousness in no time! Aside from new machinery, we have been developing some awesome new services and products for all our wonderful clients and we can't wait to reveal them, plus some other goodies very soon! There is a lot of fun stuff in store so stay tuned! :)
