Tiffany & Mitch's Wedding | Chapel in the Garden, Port Orange, FL

Tiffany and Mitch met in middle school but never hung out in the same circles. Although Tiffany always thought Mitch was cute, a love did not blossom until many years later. Relationships came and went in both of their lives but they never found their "one." After traveling down some rather rocky roads in their lives eventually their paths crossed once again. At a restaurant in their hometown they found one another at last. Sparks flew and seemingly overnight Mitch and Tiffany were inseparable. After so many years had gone by fate brought them both back to their home town where the bad boy from middle school could finally be with the sweet girl next door.

Tiffany and Mitch planned their wedding in just three short weeks. They had waited so long already to be together, they didn't want to waste any more time. They were married on a cold Friday night at the Chapel in the Garden in Port Orange, FL. Surrounded by their family and friends, they, along with Mitch's daughter Alanna, became a family. The ceremony was heartwarming and sincere as these two finally joined paths for the rest of their lives.

Tiffany and Mitch presented Alanna with a necklace to show their commitment to being her loving parents.

So I never showcase the formals on the blog or the website (mostly because they are just a bit boring)... but this is proof we actually do take them. I love this one in particular because of Alanna's pose of choice.

I love this shot... Can't you just see it as a huge 5 foot long canvas print hung over a sofa. Gorgeous!

Tiffany & Mitch... Thank you both so much for inviting us into your lives and allowing us to tell your love story. We are so glad you two have finally found your other halves. We can't imagine either of you with anyone else. You seem custom made for one another. Alanna is a very lucky girl to have so much love in her life.

Lucy in the sky...

...with diamonds. Or more like Lucy on a walk. Its been a while since Lucy has made a blog appearance so its high time she show her face around here again. A lot of my blog readers have been emailing me and asking "hey whats it like to take Lucy on a walk in the afternoon?"* Instead of just telling you how awesome it is I thought why not show you!!! So get ready for the virtual dog walk experience! Extra comfy walking shoes and doggy bags are recommended.

Near the mailboxes, Lucy spots another dog. She proceeds to flop around on the end of the leash like a fish out of water. Its completely entertaining until the barking starts. Note: must walk crazy chihuahua using a harness, otherwise she will choke herself out. Asphyxiated chihuahua = boring chihuahua.

Brad finds it funny that I call the pile of poo Lucy is sniffing at "Poops" Apparently I shouldn't call it poops because poop is already plural. Like deer.

Brad is very proud that Lucy is making her own poops now...

Fashion Bridal Shoot | Jacksonville Wedding Photography

Things have been very busy since returning from Vegas last week. We've been working like crazy to get things done before wedding season shifts into high gear in a few days. Between working on taxes, new website and blog and packing up to move in a few weeks I haven't had too much time to blog. So in hopes of keeping the blog love flowing... here are a few shots from Megan & Seth's fashion bridal session a few months back. This had to be one of my all time favorite sessions. Megan wore a birdcage veil as well as a cathedral veil during the shoot!!! That is a photographer's dream. There is nothing more fun than playing with a beautiful veil during a photo shoot. Well... strike that... gorgeous shoes and accessories are just as fun as beautiful veils. It all adds some spice to the shoot... and we love some spice!!!

WPPI 2009 - Las Vegas!

So I've been getting some emails and requests to please please please update our blog. I have been MIA for over a week now! Egads! Seriously February has turned out to be quite a whirlwind month for us. Brad and I have had some very interesting events happen in our lives over the last few weeks and we have been busy busy beavers because of it. We are in the process of moving right now and will be all settled into our new place come April 1st! All last week I was in Las Vegas, NV for the annual WPPI Convention and Trade Show. It was such an awesome week filled with seminars, parties and photo shoots. I had no idea how much walking I was in store for and was absolutely exhausted by the time I was back home in Jacksonville. Monday while I was out there, I had my first annual 29th birthday!!!! Although I was sad that for the first time in five years I wouldn't be celebrating with Brad by my side I was so happy to be surrounded by some of my favorite people. My sweet friends Melanie McLellan and Adrian Hitt took me to dinner then surprised me with a ticket to see the Beatle's Cirque de Soleil show Love. I had never seen a Cirque de Soleil show and it was such an awesome experience. If you haven't done so already... definitely check out at least one of their shows. The performances are absolutely incredible! Adrian got us some amazing seats right up front and in then middle of all the action. It was the perfect way to celebrate turning 29!

Here are some shots from my hotel room at the MGM Grand... since I was waking up at 6:30 am every morning I got to see lots of gorgeous sunrises!

For most of my time out in Vegas, it was go go go... listening to seminars and learning from some of the best photographers in the world, meeting up with friends from all over the country and occasionally squeezing in a little bit of sleep. With all the demands of the convention, I wasn't sure I would ever actually get a chance to see the city much. Towards the end of my stay I met up with an old college friend who now lives in Vegas for lunch and a birthday pedicure at the Bellagio! It was divine! Finally that night I went out for a long, and very cold, walk down the strip just to see the town some on my own. Las Vegas really is a town like no other. I snapped a couple shots of some of the casinos but for the most part I simply took in the sights and enjoyed being a tourist.

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to go on a shoot out in the desert with the incredibly talented Victor Sizemore. I had never been to the desert before and certainly had no inkling of how COLD it was going to be out there. Wearing just a hoodie and jeans I was definitely not prepared for 36 degree weather and ferocious wind gusts. God bless our bride for braving the cold to allow us all to get our shots. As cold as it was, it turned out to be a killer shoot. I will post more from this shoot later... for now here is our group plus a beautiful shot of the desert I got while driving out to our shoot location.

Edible Centerpieces | The Perfect Pear Catering Company

So lately I have been pretty obsessed with organic wedding decor. By organic I mean very natural free flowing design that seems to have evolved right from the Earth itself. I've seen some beautiful posts on Style Me Pretty lately that showcase weddings that have captured the beauty of nature so perfectly. You can see the trends in everything from venue selection to bouquets and favors all the way to edible center pieces. That's right... edible center pieces. I had the privilege of shooting some photos for the fabulous Rachel Deremer, owner of The Perfect Pear Catering Co. here in Jacksonville Beach. She has been making these edible bread basket center pieces for a while now and they are such a hit with brides and wedding guests. Not only are they beautiful to look at but they are practical and delicious. A variety of breads arranged with fresh herbs accompanied by the most scrumptious assortment of dipping sauces you can imagine. I just love how the baskets showcase the beauty of the food colors and textures all while giving your guests something delicious to munch on before dinner is served. If you are looking for something unique and possibly an alternative to expensive flower arrangements, consider fresh herbs and edible centerpieces. Your guests will love it!

Michelle and Jamaal are getting married | Jacksonville Engagement Photography

Meet Michelle and Jamaal. We met up with these high school sweethearts in downtown Jacksonville to shoot their engagement session back in January. Because Michelle and Jamaal live in Atlanta, they booked us over the phone and via email. I was so excited to finally meet them in person. I just had a gut feeling they would be a blast to work with... let me tell you they certainly did not disappoint. Michelle has the sweetest personality and with her great style, how could I not love this girl?!? Jamaal, a former Jaguar player who now plays football for the the Atlanta Falcons, has the most electrifying smile that lights up whenever he looks at his beautiful bride to be. I knew after Michelle told me Jamaal had hired a photographer to capture his proposal that he was my kind of guy.

Although it was quite chilly and windy out, these two didn't mind one bit. They put up with all our silliness and worked the camera like no ones business. We can't wait to shoot their wedding at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club this April. I know it will be absolutely stunning and so much fun for everyone involved.

Michelle and Jamaal, thank you for hanging out with us during your visit to Jacksonville. We are so excited to be a part of such a special day in your lives. You two just radiate love when you are together and made our job all too easy. We hope you enjoy the photos and can't wait to see you again in the spring.

Newest Obsession - Flight of the Conchords!

Saturday night while Brad and I were perusing Circuit City to scout some awesome going out of business deals, we stumbled across the first season of a show called Flight of the Conchords. Now it is quite possible we have been living under a rock and everyone, except for us, already knows about the ooey gooey goodness that is this New Zealand folk duo. However, we do not have HBO and so it took us until now to find out how much we were missing out on. Scouring the DVD aisle at Circuit City, we saw the scrumptious cover art and were immediately drawn in. We decided to buy the first season and give it a go. Needless to say it was the best $15 we have ever spent! Seriously... it is hilarious! I love everything about this show. I love all the wide angle shooting, the crazy musical deliciousness, the fantastic New Zealand accents, and best yet... their one and only crazy stalker fan is named MEL!!! Oh yes... I do think it was destiny. For those of you who have not seen this show. You probably should do yourselves a favor and drop whatever you may be doing right now, run to the closest video store near you and buy this DVD! Here is a snippet of some of their musical genius just to whet your appetites. Be sure to watch it all the way through and catch the binary solo at the end.

Ben & Sylvia's 30th Wedding Anniversary | Nashville Portrait Photography

During our time in Nashville, our sweet friend Kim hired us to take some photos of her parents as a gift on their 30th wedding anniversary. We showed up at their home unbeknownst to them under the pretense that we would be taking some general shots of their property. After walking around for awhile shooting some of their super cool old barns, Kim brought her parents outside and let them in on her secret. Ben and Sylvia had not had a real photo session with just the two of them since their wedding day. What better reason to take pictures than celebrating thirty years of marriage! Although it was cold and wet out we got some really great shots of them around their home. They live in the most fabulous old farm house built in the late 1800's. I love everything about their place. There are three barns on the property with horses and scenic mountain views all around. We had such a good time with these two. They really are a perfect example of true, lasting love. Thank you Kim for surprising your parents with such a wonderful gift, and thank you Ben & Sylvia for being such great sports when your daughter ambushed you on your anniversary.

Mary Evelyn & Greg's Tennessee Wedding | Destination Wedding Photographers

On a rainy Sunday in January, Mary Evelyn and Greg were married in a quiet valley just outside of Nashville, TN. Their wedding was filled with family, friends and tradition. Mary Evelyn wore her grandmother's wedding dress with a veil made from her grandmother's old baby bonnet. They said their vows in a traditional Orthodox ceremony at St. Ignatious Orthodox Church followed by a festive British themed reception. Since Mary Evelyn and Greg met in London, they knew there was no better way to celebrate on their wedding day than with authentic British food complete with Sheppard's Pie and Beer Cheese Soup. The live band played while their guests from across the country danced the night away. It truly was a beautiful wedding filled with so much love and happiness. Here are a few of my favorites followed by a slideshow. I just love their first dance song. It seems to suit them perfectly.

Hannah and Dean's Miami Wedding | Destination Wedding Photographers

In late November, Hannah and Dean had the most beautiful wedding in a secluded private villa in Coconut Grove, FL. Villa Woodbine was the perfect setting for the intimate gathering these two wanted on their wedding day. Because Hannah and Dean live in Los Angeles and had family and friends flying in from all over the country they kept things simple. Ceremony in the garden, followed by cocktails in the courtyard while the garden was transformed to accommodate their gorgeous candle lit reception. They celebrated their union surrounded by the love of family and friends. Everyone danced and mingled for hours, even continuing the party on a rooftop lounge in the heart of Coconut Grove after the wedding had ended. These two are such a perfect match. You can just see the adoration in Dean's eyes when he looks at his beautiful bride. Their ceremony was so heart warming it brought tears to my eyes. On a freezing but beautiful New Years Day in downtown Nashville, Brad and I met up with one of our adorable destination wedding couples, Mary Evelyn and Greg, to shoot some engagement photos. Its always fun to finally meet with our destination couples who book us over the phone and via email without actually meeting us first. You feel like you already know them so well. I had a pretty good sense of their personalities and how much fun they were going to be just from all our email conversations. These two did not disappoint. They were so silly and fun and loving during their session... it made our job way too easy. We couldn't have asked for a sweeter couple to spend our New Years Day with. Jacksonville PUG Night Shoot | Jacksonville Wedding Photographers

Last night was the third Jacksonville PUG meeting. For those of you who aren't photographers, PUG is short for Pictage Users Group. Its a great way for local photographers to meet up and network as well as learn some fun new techniques. After the dinner and meeting at Cafe Carmon in San Marco our huge group ventured out into the foggy night air to practice some lighting techniques and shoot at night. The lovely Cassie Cherneski of Flaire Weddings and her husband, John, graciously modeled for us. I have to hand it to these two. It is not easy being the center of attention for 30 photographers. It was like paparazzi out there. They did a wonderful job and didn't complain about the cold once. Here are a few shots that I captured.

How excited was I the other day when I opened the mailbox to find an unexpected package just waiting for me inside?! It was a little thank you gift from a photographer friend of mine out in Washington state. Suwanee Lennon is an incredible photographer who has recently moved back to the states from Japan and decided to make the leap into wedding photography. I had the pleasure of meeting her during my time at the Image X workshop in New Orleans and have kept in touch with her through email ever since. It was so incredibly sweet of her to send yummy Godiva chocolates and a lovely little thank you note for helping her with some early business advice. The only thing better than a hand written thank you is a hand written thank you with chocolate!!! haha. I can't wait to see how her new wedding photography business continues to grow. She has an incredible talent to share with the world.

Swoozie's Bridal Showcase

Recently, Brad and I were chosen to be the preferred photographers for Swoozie's first Bridal Showcase. We were a part of a handful of vendors chosen to participate at this unique event. This was such a wonderful opportunity for brides to get to chat with some of the best in the wedding industry as well as take a closer look at the variety of custom wedding products that Swoozies has to offer. Swoozies is an amazing store filled with unique stationary, gifts, treats and so much more! Brides can find nearly anything they need from custom invitations and favors to personalized gifts for their wedding party. Jacksonville Engagement Session | Bobbie & James are getting married!

Before Christmas, Brad and I had the chance to shoot an engagement session for two of our wonderful friends who will be getting married in February. Bobbie and James are two of the first people we met when we moved here to Jacksonville and we are so lucky to be able to call these two our friends. We could not have been happier when they announced their engagement back in October. They are absolutely made for each other. We had a blast taking them out to a small park on the bank of the St. Johns river to shoot their engagement photos. Although it was super cold that day, the sun was casting warm rays of golden light across the water. We all did our best to not get too cold or muddy traipsing around the cypress knees. Here are a few of my favorite shots followed by their slideshow. These two will be tying the knot in Savannah in just a few weeks. Its sure to be a beautiful southern wedding.

Jacksonville Sunset

Last week after hours of painting the giant bridal show walls I went inside to clean up and take Lucy on her evening walk. As I stepped back into the open garage I noticed everything was lit up bright pink. I looked out into the street and noticed the most breathtaking sunset I have quite possibly ever seen. I quickly hooked Lucy to her leash and ran back inside to get my camera. The colors were fading fast but I was able to snap a few quick shots before it changed too much. Afterwards, I put my camera back in the house and continued on my walk with Lucy taking in the simple beauty of a cold January evening painted by God. It was one of those moments when I was completely peaceful and thankful that I had walked outside at exactly the right moment to take it all in. It really is the little things in life that warm my heart so much.

Jacksonville Bridal Show

Yesterday, Brad and I had our first bridal show experience as vendors in the Ultimate Bridal Fantasy show at World Golf Village. It was definitely a great experience all around. We spent the bulk of last week busting our butts constructing the huge 4' by 8' panels that would come together and create the infamous "wall!" Although it was super heavy, and every muscle in my body aches from moving it in and out all weekend, I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out. We displayed some of our newest artwork on huge 20"x30" metallic prints. The metallic paper looked ultra sleek against the black walls. We'd been holding some of our favorite images back to release them with our up coming new website, but we just had to give a sneak peek of a few for the bridal show.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful brides and grooms that stopped by our booth to meet us. It was such a pleasure getting to chat with so many of you. For those of you who may have missed the show, here are some photos of our booth and the giant WALL!

Welcome Baby Christley | Jacksonville birth photography

On a cold night in early December I received the phone call from one of my birth clients that she was in labor and her little guy was on his way. I grabbed my camera bag and headed to the birthing center. The Christley's were already there and prepping for their baby boy to arrive. The labor progressed and stalled throughout the night but mom was strong and made it through 100% natural. She gave birth to a healthy baby just as day broke on December 4th. I had never seen a water birth before and it was such an amazing experience to be a part of. Words cannot express how miraculous it is to witness the birth of a child. It brought tears to my eyes as I saw mom and dad hold their little boy for the first time. Thank you both so much for allowing me to be a part of your lives. You are such a beautiful family and I hope you will cherish these photos for years and years.

Nashville Engagement Session Sneak Peek

Tonight Brad and I shot Mary Evelyn & Greg's Orthodox wedding at St. Ignatius Church in Franklin, TN. It was such a lovely wedding rich with family history and tradition. A few days before their wedding, on New Years Day, we had the pleasure of shooting their engagement session in downtown Nashville. Hannah and Dean's Miami Wedding Sneak Peek

During the tornado that has been this holiday season I completely forgot to post a sneak peek of the gorgeous Miami wedding Brad and I shot at the end of last month.
